Stripping down nuclear energy for everyday listeners

Listener Reviews

Who knew nuclear energy could be fun?!?
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ If you've ever felt like nuclear energy conversations leave you drowning in jargon, politics, and fear — Naked Nuclear is the antidote. Hosted by Danielle Allen — a firefighter, paramedic, pilot, and nuclear engineering student — this podcast does exactly what the name promises: it strips nuclear down to its bones so it actually makes sense. Danielle doesn't come from a lab. She comes from a life of running toward danger and figuring things out in real time. That background gives her a rare ability to ask the "dumb" questions that nobody else will ask…and get the answers that everyone actually needs. Whether she's interviewing GE Vernova engineers about the BWRX-300 small modular reactor, sitting down with a 19-year-old nuclear welder who built Plant Vogtle from the ground up, or unpacking why the U.S. still hasn't recycled 96% of its nuclear fuel, every episode is grounded, honest, and accessible. For high performers and leaders who want to understand the clean energy landscape, not just the headlines, this podcast delivers. It covers the science, the careers, the policy, and the very human stories behind one of the most powerful and most misunderstood technologies on Earth.
A Mechanic’s New View on Nuclear Energy
I’m a mechanic, and nuclear energy was never something I thought much about beyond seeing it on The Simpsons and being skeptical of it. What I like about Naked Nuclear is that it explains things in simple terms without making you feel lost. The season on building a nuclear reactor really stood out to me because I enjoy understanding how things are designed, built, and made to work safely. This podcast gave me a more practical and positive view of nuclear energy, and I hope people consider supporting it so more listeners can learn from it too.
Makes learning fun
I was looking for an educational podcast that wasn’t focused on sports. I stumbled across naked nuclear and have been hooked ever since. The show did a great job of turning complex concepts into easily consumable and understandable information. Highly recommend!
Easy to Understand and Incredibly Important!
I used to be skeptical of nuclear energy, but Naked Nuclear helped me see the issue in a new way. I appreciate that the podcast explains complicated energy topics in a simple, down to earth way. It helped me better understand the energy challenges we’re facing and why nuclear energy is an important part of the solution. The show is well produced, thoughtful, and worth supporting so these conversations can continue.
Listen if you love fun learning
I for one am not from the nuclear space and I never knew anything about it before. I also get very bored with most podcasts. Danielle does a great job of keeping me engaged while learning new things every time I listen. 10/10 recommend!
Approachable Nuclear Energy for Everyday Listeners
I really appreciate how approachable Naked Nuclear is. It has a calm, professional feel that reminds me of NPR, but it explains nuclear energy in a way that is easy to understand, even for people who don’t come from a scientific background. The conversations are thoughtful, interesting, and never feel too technical or intimidating. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to better understand nuclear energy and why it matters.
Like The Daily, But for Nuclear Energy!
Naked Nuclear is a great listen. It sounds super professional, kind of like The New York Times’ The Daily, but focused on deep, interesting topics about nuclear energy. The conversations are thoughtful, easy to follow, and really engaging. I love Naked Nuclear and would definitely recommend it to anyone curious about energy or nuclear power.
Naked Nuclear Makes Nuclear Energy Human!
I love the Naked Nuclear podcast! Danielle has a real gift for breaking down complex nuclear energy topics in a way that feels approachable, engaging, and easy to understand for a wide audience. Her voice, style, intelligence, humor, and thoughtful format make her an outstanding science communicator. My personal favorite episode is “Firefighting to Fission: How Danielle is Fusing her Future Career,” where she shares her journey into the nuclear field. Stories like hers are inspiring and show how powerful personal storytelling can be in science communication. This podcast is informative, refreshing, and genuinely encouraging for anyone interested in nuclear energy or curious about the people behind the field. I highly recommend listening and supporting the podcast if you’re able, so Danielle can keep sharing these important and inspiring stories.
Amazingly Infomrative & Accessible to Everyone
I really enjoy how these large concepts are broken down into readily understandable pieces, and are related to the entire subject of the Nuclear Industry. The chance to listen to titans in industry explain about how they got their start, and the various pathways they can take to enter and go is inspiring!
Dyscalculia to Calculus was so inspiring!
I've listened to the latest podcast twice today. Massively inspiring and accessible. What a fantastic podcast!
Brilliant! It’s exactly what I’ve been looking for
I’ve been looking for an easy way to learn more about nuclear. I’m seeing it and hearing it everywhere and this has been just the podcast to learn from (without feeling super dumb)
Insightful!!
This has been a fantastic podcast to listen to on my way to work. The insights and knowledge are invaluable in today’s rapidly changing energy needs. I couldn’t imagine a better host! Her wisdom and experience it the field shines. The podcast is professionally produced and very digestible. Couldn’t recommend it more!
I didn’t know I cared this much about nuclear related topics!
I was recommended this podcast from a friend on TikTok as I make content about indigenous California. I just finished listening to the episode about the YTT Chumash people and the organization that is working to ensure this tribe is respected and honored in the process of creating nuclear energy on the Central Clast of California. Danielle took this topic and made it come alive! An incredible show that makes you want to care not just about nuclear energy, but the people that it affects, and the impact it has on our world and environment. BRAVO Danielle for making such a great show!
